Maxwell Newhouse is a well respected Canadian folk artist. He has been painting life as he sees it for over forty years. Maxwell has published seven children's books with Tundra books from Toronto Canada, in the folk art style he is noted for. Maxwell gets his inspiration from his past and loves to reflect on the styles of the 50's. He also enjoys doing custom work for people who have there own special memories that they would like to see in a painting.

All artists' paints are simple mixtures of dry pigment (color) and a binder. The type of binder determines the type of painting media (i.e. oils, acrylics, watercolors). If we look at a color like Burnt Sienna (natural iron oxide) in both acrylics and oils – the exact same dry pigment is used, the only difference is the binder. In acrylics, the binder is an acrylic polymer, which is essentially a plastic (petroleum derivative). In an oil paint, the pigment is bound in refined linseed oil, which is pressed from the seeds of the flax plant. Gamblin Artists Colors, we use only North American flax seeds. The binder is made from a completely renewable resource.
