This is the first piece we built from the salvaged knee braces of a New England barn dating back to 1775. The top is a smaller version of our reclaimed White Oak farm table. Warm tones of honey color to coffee brown create a variegated pattern that draws in the eye and senses. Reclaimed White Oak from the gun stock beams of the barn square all four corners of this table. Left natural and untreated these legs bear the original hand hewn markings of an adz or ax. Slats of reclaimed Oak adds a bottom shelf for magazines, leaflets and bound stories. Hand finished with a solution of pure Tung oil and non toxic Citrus solvent.

Artists Inspirational Message:
Barns and outbuildings are important icons of country life in New England. When there is no longer hope in preserving a structure, salvaging allows the materials to live on in new form. We are a two man team that dismantle these structures piece by piece without the use of heavy machinery. We are able to salvage all usable pieces and preserve the distinctive character markings left on these old growth wood.
