All handmade with solid curly maple legs mortised to curly maple stretchers and combined with four redheart panels for contrast. The taboret also has three redheart butterfly inlays joining two symmetrical maple tops into one. Butterfly inlays used to join wood that is split is a typical arts and crafts design element. The redheart used in this table is native to Central America and grown in managed forests. The redheart will turn a honey brown if exposed to direct sunlight.

I have been an artist all my life and have worked with many different mediums. When I became a woodworker I discovered that no artist pallet or medium could compare with the variety of woods, grain patterns and colors available. Even after working with wood for over 30 years I still find it to be quite challenging. I like to design a particular piece around a unique or unusual piece of sustainable wood. Subtle lines and curves that showcase contrasting colors and grains or the figure of the wood; I will often utilize woods that have natural flaws or imperfections and spalting. All of my fine furniture is constructed with solid woods using mortise and tenon joints for heirloom quality and dovetails joints on the drawer boxes for strength and beauty. My main influences are furniture makers James Krenov and David Marks. Krenov for his attention to the little details that makes a piece of furniture beautiful and David Marks for being a perfectionist and the woods he uses in his designs.
