This table was built from American Chestnut beams that came from a barn in Massachusetts. Like the other barns we dismantle by hand, it had fallen into disrepair. Approximate date of this barn is 1800. At one time it was used as a wood and metal workshop to store and repair old farm tools. We milled and planed the beams to yield 1.25" thick boards. Five of these boards were used to assemble the table top. Dove tail inspired tenons made from reclaimed Oak mortise into the top of the table to connect it to the base. On the short ends of the table are reclaimed Oak bread boards. Also the feet base is built from reclaimed Oak. Two organic fishers on one end of the table is held through by hand cut butterfly joints.

Barns and outbuildings are important icons of country life in New England. When there is no longer hope in preserving a structure, salvaging allows the materials to live on in new form. We are a two man team that dismantle these structures piece by piece without the use of heavy machinery. We are able to salvage all usable pieces and preserve the distinctive character markings left on these old growth wood.
