This table is made from the hay door of a barn from Alford Massachusetts that was built in 1823. Ian became aware of the pending removal of the barn from the property and was able to acquire a large quantity of stunning barn board, and hand hewn chestnut beams. This table is weather worn fir, with the original door braces returned to the underside of this stunning piece. The traditional barn red paint can still be seen in the wood here and there, adding to the beauty of the piece. The skirts and legs are done in wormy butternut which have been milled from several interior door frames from the same New England barn adding to it's history.

Ian Ferguson lived in Europe for many of his adult years. It was in Europe where he got a feel for traditional furniture construction. Using the skills Ian acquired over the years he then began making sustainable furniture. With 10 years working with wood, Ian has honed his skills to now produce museum quality pieces. Most of Ian’s work is done without any nails or screws. He uses the method that’s been used for hundreds of years, pegged and glued joints. one of the most mentioned points of his work is the high level of the finishing. All pieces are done by hand with multiple layers of danish oils and tung oils. dining tables have as many as 6 hand rubbed coats and are waxed and buffed to a surface that has been compared to the feeling of warm silk
