This amazing sculptural jacket was inspired by Maria Callas and created using repurposed tin cans and exhibited at events and venues commemorating the 30th year anniversary of her death. Major exhibitions followed including the historic National Bank of Greece in 2007 which received worldwide coverage through Reuters News Service. This was followed by an exhibition at the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art, the Archeological Museum in Thessaloniki, Greece, and a presentation in New York City by the Cultural Attache of the Greek Embassy in Washington, DC in 2009. This work was also exhibited at ArtCargo gallery, a Greek and German exhibition. Finally, the work was exhibited at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria in 2009 and this year at the Departures Art Exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in Athens, Greece

Nikos Floros was born in Tripoli, Arcadia Greece. He studied at the School of Fine Arts (Ecole des Beaux Arts) in Paris as well as classical piano and classical theater in Greece. Nikos Floros’ sculptural costumes are unique and original designs utilizing aluminum cans which he transforms into fabric-like material used to create these unique sculptural costumes. This method was created and patented by Nikos Floros in 2003. Nikos Floros’ sculptures have been presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2004, at the Metropolitan Club, the French Heritage Society and the Greek Consulate in New York. He received a Grand Prize presented by Harold Koda of the Metropolitan Museum as well as the Grand Prize from the French Heritage Society. Nikos Floros also designed sculptural costumes for the production of Jean Jacques Rousseau’s NARCISE presented at the Theater of the New City in collaboration with New York University and Columbia University
