There is a lovely history attached to this piece. My good friend London artist and writer Harland Miller gave this piece to me when the artist started working on her collection. It had been in his studio for some time and he wrote his first novel at this desk- "Slow Down Arthur, Stick To Thirty." The inspiration for this piece came from a favourite Kandinsky painting that the artist loves. She especially likes the creation of furniture into a multidimensional painting - it becomes a work that you can use and view almost like a sculpture.

After growing up by the sea in Poole, Dorset and travelling around the world in my late teens, I moved to London and started training as a specialist painter/ decorative artist, serving a long apprenticeship with a team of painters across the capital. I worked for Smallbone of Devizes, world leader in bespoke cabinetry, working with a quality product and always achieving the highest standards in the finish, whilst tailoring each specification to the client’s individual needs. This gave me the idea for my current collection, to use my technical ability, coupled with my love of art and design to create beautiful quality, design lead furniture. I wanted to create unique works, furniture that exists as works of art whilst still being functional. I breathe new life into classic pieces, restoring and reusing furniture which would otherwise be overlooked. Working with a fresh approach and truly original designs, I transform them into totally unique products for the top end of the market. My work definitely crosses between the boundaries of art and design and my physical work on the pieces involves craftsmanship. I love working in this way and my approach to my work is driven by the excitement and passion that I feel creating and being surrounded by beautiful objects. My aim is to communicate this sense to others so that they can experience the same enjoyment from my work.
